Testing and Diagnostics
Test are not always necessary, but they can often help point us in the right direction, or uncover the causes of what is going on with your health.
Before any test referrals can be arranged, all clients need to have a full initial consultation to determine the most appropriate test for their individual health concerns. This is so you don't waste time or money undertaking unnecessary testing.
Below is a description of some of the most commonly-used testing methods in naturopathic practice.
In most cases, these tests are conducted via a laboratory, who will post to patients with an at-home testing kit upon referral from a health practitioner. Any test costs are paid directly to the laboratory.

Food Intolerance Testing
Many people with food intolerance find it difficult to pin point what foods they are intolerant to as symptoms are so varied and may not always appear directly after eating certain foods. At Naturology, the type of testing I may refer you to depends on your individual health picture. Read more...
Salivary Hormone Testing
Hormonal imbalance symptoms may include sleep and mood disorders, weight gain, headaches, skin conditions, irregular and painful menstruation, and fertility problems. An accurate way to detect the underlying cause is through a saliva hormone test. Saliva is an accurate way of testing your hormones because it measures the free and active hormone levels. Blood hormones on the other hand are predominantly bound to a protein and rendered inactive. Therefore, blood hormone tests are not as accurate to detect hormonal imbalances.
Advanced Dried Urine Hormone Profile (DUTCH Profile)
This test is ideal for a comprehensive overview of a patient’s hormonal status or trying to find the underlying cause of a real complex hormone related issue in a variety of conditions, including anxiety, headaches, poor concentration, ‘brain fog’, low energy, salt cravings, mild depression, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, thyroid dysfunction, blood pressure problems, poor immunity, menopause, irregular menstruation and mood changes.
DNA Wellness Testing
By assessing your genetic profile, this ground-breaking test can show you how to optimise your diet and modify your lifestyle to “turn off” or down-regulate genes that have the potential to cause harm and “turn on” or up-regulate the genes that help to prevent disease. This state-of-the-art genetic testing truly is predictive and preventative medicine at its best. It is, however, important to choose better quality DNA tests - discounted DNA tests are often inaccurate and misleading. Read more here.
